Julie Taymor, who directed the incredible film Frida and brought the Lion King to Broadway, is in charge of the new stage musical Spider-Man. While I have trouble seeing the Green Goblin singing a heartfelt song about his madness, the $40 Million budget is nearly a 1/3 of the budget for the first Spider-Man movie and the highest budget for a play ever. Hollywood is in love with comics right now, as we can all see, but I’m a bit doubtful about superheroes working on the stage - especially at that price tag.
